Sedia Systems to locate manufacturing and headquarters in Asheboro

November 20, 2020

Asheboro, NC – Sedia Systems Inc. is a global fixed lecture room seating, auditorium seating, multipurpose seating and acoustics company with headquarters and showroom located in Chicago.

The company has produced products in North Carolina for 15 years with plans to consolidate its two operations located in High Point, with one in Randolph County and one in Guilford County along with their headquarters and eventually their showroom in Chicago to Asheboro, NC

Sedia Systems entertained two other locations in Indiana and Michigan but in the end made the decision after an extensive due diligence period to purchase a 60,000+ square foot facility located at 335 Commerce Drive in Asheboro.  The building will accommodate the consolidation plans for the company once they have completed their renovations.

The company may be eligible for a NC Rural Building Reuse Grant in which the City of Asheboro has agreed to be the applicant for.   In addition to state grants, Sedia Systems, qualifies for local incentives in the amount of $36,532 over a five-year period to be split equally between the City of Asheboro and Randolph County.  A joint public hearing between the City of Asheboro and Randolph County was held on October 28, 2020 to approve the local incentives and to be the applicant for the Building Reuse Grant.

Sedia Systems will create 14 new jobs over five years and must meet the 9 new jobs requirement within the first two years for the Building Reuse Grant.  These jobs will have an average annual wage exceeding the average county wage.

“We’ve been looking aggressively for a long-term home for Sedia Systems to flourish and we found it in Asheboro,” said Sedia Systems’ CEO Wilson Troup.

The Randolph County Economic Development Corporation worked diligently with the owners to assist with the application process and local match public hearings processes and provide the requested resources of the company.

“We are excited that another building in Asheboro will be put back into operation; we welcome and support Sedia Systems to our community,” says Mayor David Smith.

We are pleased that Sedia Systems selected Randolph County for their production facility and future headquarters and that they continue their presence in North Carolina.  Their product falls right in line with what Randolph County is best known for and we look forward to their continued success and growth,” stated Darrell Frye, Chairman of the Randolph County Board of Commissioners.
