Textiles and Apparel

For nearly two centuries, industrial textile production has been an integral part of Randolph County’s manufacturing landscape, and it remains alive and well today. Textile and apparel companies today collectively employ nearly 2,000 employees, a highly skilled workforce with textile know-how passed from generation to generation. Add investment in advanced technology, ongoing process improvements, and ready access to world-class technical assistance from resources such as the NC State University College of Textiles in Raleigh and the Manufacturing Solutions Center in Conover, and it’s no surprise that textiles here have maintained a competitive edge in a global market. We’re proud of our legacy textile firms such as Sapona Manufacturing and Wells Hosiery and Apparel, but global textile firms have also taken note of what Randolph County has to offer. We are now the sole North America production operation for global textile giant MAS Holdings, and Fibertex Personal Care recently selected Randolph County as the location of its first U.S. nonwoven textile production facility. The outlook for textiles here in Randolph County remains strong.
