HIGH POINT — IE Furniture has purchased the High Point Furniture Industries facility in the High Point section of Randolph County, according to an announcement Monday by the Randolph County Economic Development Corp.

The 259,000-square-foot facility is located at 1121 Corporation Drive.

IE Furniture manufactures hospitality-related, case goods and institutional furniture. High Point Furniture Industries will contract the manufacture of case goods from IE. The 35 High Point Furniture Industries employees will remain with IE Furniture, and more than 20 additional employees will be added to the Corporation Drive location.

The $3 million investment will reinvigorate an existing Randolph County facility, according to the EDC.

EDC officials, such as Clyde Phillips, chair, and Walter Sprouse, EDC president, welcomed the news.

“The High Point Furniture Industries property was somewhat underutilized over the past several years, and it was the perfect opportunity for IE Furniture to grow in Randolph County. IE will consolidate its four Triad-area locations, so additional employees will be added to our Randolph County roles in the future,” Phillips said.

“Lots going on here in Randolph,” added Sprouse. “We had five company expansions last month — Trinity, Archdale, Liberty, Asheboro and Seagrove. How’s that for all parts of the county? Now, we add the High Point section of Randolph County.”
