PDFPrintE-mail
An independent government agency crated by the US Congress to help small businesses grow and prosper. The SBA offers small companies financial assistance through guaranteed loans, business development assistance, help in obtaining government contracts and counseling services. Much of the SBA's information can be found at www.sba.gov .

Loan Programs: The SBA will guarantee loans through private lenders up to $1 million through the 7(a) program. For loans under $150,000 the LowDoc Loan Program provides a one-page application process with rapid response. The 504-loan program is administered through Certified Development Cos. This bricks and mortar financing helps the business owner with plant acquisition, construction and expansion. Other financing includes the International Loan Program, lines of credit and venture capital through the Small Business Investment Company Program. For more information, see www.sba.gov/nc .

Procurement Assistance: The SBA has the responsibility of making certain that small businesses obtain a fair share of federal government contracts and sub contracts. Contact Mary Bayard, SBA, at 919-541-7895 for more information. The SBA 8(a) program helps socially and disadvantaged businesses obtain federal government contacts.
